“Fall, for me, is reflected in the gorgeous options of garden roses,” explains Rissa Walters, owner of Studio Palma. “They’re in full bloom, and I try my best to use as many as I can when they are in season and locally grown.” She’s also been known to use dried-out versions in the fall. It’s not only reminiscent of the season, but in some instances more common-sense for the weather. “Always keep the weather and venue in mind. If you’re having an outside wedding, make sure you choose hardier flowers. There’s nothing worse than having to put arrangements in direct sunlight and high heat.” Bottom line: “Trust your florist. It is extremely difficult to know what will be available until about two to three weeks out. Even then we’re hoping our growers are able to pull through. Avoid disappointment by setting your heart on a style and color palette, not on specific flower types.”

Someone pinch us, please. We’ve fully fallen head over heels—er, head over and under florals—for the February/March 2018 cover photo of Exquisite Weddings by San Diego Magazine that features our flower installation.

We’re so proud to show off our styled floral backdrop featured in the “Her Moment” bridal wedding gown editorial photoshoot, photographed by Carrie McGuire Photography at Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate. Our owner and floral designer, Rissa Walters created the look with hundreds of dangling dahlias and a lot of patience stringing together the thread that held them together, from the top of the ceiling and even to the chandeliers.

We adore the natural light hitting the bride just right, the falling florals paired perfectly with the Badgley Mischka “Brooke” gown, embellished also with petals, from Archive Bridal. Without further ado, go on now, swoon!

Neon florals, anyone? This post is for the vivid color-loving brides-to-be! San Diego Magazine’s wedding book for Spring/Summer 2019 is officially on newsstands and we’re jumping for joy that our floral art installation was featured on the cover.

We created two installations for the editorial feature. One featuring colorful color block towers out of baby’s breath and the other was a floral art display on a 15-foot ocotillo plant.

Both art installations from the photoshoot and were featured in the summer bridal fashion story, “Take a walk on the bright side.” It highlighted inspiration from the best of San Diego.

The photoshoot took place in a natural backdrop, the desert-scape surrounding Borrego Valley Inn, and included a bright display of fashion, decor and details, including our floral installations. We were so honored to be asked to be a part of it and overjoyed to be the featured florist.
